In With the New

On a Mission
PLAY, a local artists collective, will be opening a new multi-purpose art venue by the same name in a few weeks on the Congress strip. A mixture of hip and homespun, PLAY combines creative fun and social consciousness by encouraging collaboration between artists of all disciplines, art education, family activities and general cultural improvisation. The space itself, furnished by Dinnerware, will serve as a gallery for emerging and established artists, performance space and anti-consumable boutique with artisan made items for everyday living. Looks like they will be putting out an official call for art, crafts and donations, and finishing up the website soon. I'll post more info as it becomes available, or you can add them to your myspace for the latest news. Here's a shot from PLAY's blacklight show at Arts Incubator last month.

***UPDATE***
PLAY is currently seeking submissions for their Black and White show and gallery opening on December 6. The only guidelines for this show are that the work be primarily in black and white. While all mediums are accepted and there are no fees to submit, please follow the submission instructions here.
