Upcoming Artist Lectures

Why go to artists' talks and lectures? Because you get the entire context of their work "straight from the horses' mouth," so to speak, without the headiness of reading a brochure or the intimidation of working up the courage to talk to a perfect strangers about something as intimate as their art. There is something about the way an artist carries him or herself in person, given a chance to state their case, that helps you to connect with their work so directly in a way no other venue can touch.

***HIGHLY RECOMMENDED***
Michael Ray Charles is a professor of Painting and Drawing at the University of Texas in Austin. I first saw Mr. Charles' solo show at dberman Gallery in Austin in 2003 and am continually blown away by his work. PBS's Art:21 seems a good place to start for more information.
